Kailash Mansarovar Yatra-Overview

Mount Kailash and Lake Mansarovar, located in remote Tibetan Plateau of the Himalaya, are among the most sacred and awe-inspiring places on Earth. Rising to about 6638m, Mount Kailash stands apart from other peaks—not for its height, but for its profound spiritual significance. It is believed to be the abode of Lord Shiva in Hinduism, the center of the universe in Buddhism, the home of Demchok for Buddhists, the gateway to ultimate spiritual freedom in Jainism, and an important spiritual site in the Bon religion. Remarkably, Mount Kailash has never been climbed, as a mark of deep reverence.

At the foot of the mountain lies Lake Mansarovar, one of the highest freshwater lakes in the world. According to Hindu belief, the lake was created by Lord Brahma and bathing in its pure waters is said to cleanse sins and bring spiritual merit. The lake symbolizes purity, serenity, and enlightenment, with its crystal-clear waters reflecting the surrounding snow-clad peaks.

Pilgrims from across the world undertake the challenging Kailash Mansarovar Yatra, performing the sacred parikrama (circumambulation) of Mount Kailash as an act of devotion and self-transformation. Together, Mount Kailash and Lake Mansarovar represent a rare harmony of natural beauty and spiritual power, inspiring faith, humility, and inner peace in all who encounter them.

Mount Kailash serves as the origin for several major rivers that play a vital role in the region’s ecology. Indus, Brahmaputra, Sutlej and Karnali (Ghagara) rivers originate from here. Collectively, these rivers not only provide vital resources but also hold deep cultural and spiritual significance within the communities they traverse, reinforcing the connection between natural landscape and human civilization.

We welcome you all to embark on this holy pilgrimage with us -“Adventure Sindbad”. We come with atleast two decades of experience with trekking, climbing and tours in the Himalayan regions of India, Nepal and Bhutan. Our approach to this yatra is not only from a spiritual angle but also from a trekking angle to keep you all safe on this high altitude, tough yatra which also involves a 3 day Parikrama(52 kms) on foot crossing a very high Pass called Dolma La(5360m).
